Overview of the Course
Eligibility: To enroll in the CA Intermediate Course;
1. Should have passed CA Foundation exams after passing 2nd PU with at least 50% marks in Science, Commerce or Arts.
2. Should have completed Graduation with at least; if Commerce, with 55% marks / if Others, with 60% marks.
Duration: The CA Intermediate Course consists of two groups with three papers each, making a total of six papers. The course can typically be completed within 12 months of registration including Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS).
For students who are pursuing graduation, best time to register for CA Intermediate is registering within June month while the student is writing the final semester exams.
For students who have passed CA Foundation, register for CA Intermediate as soon as you obtain your CA Foundation results.
Subjects: The course curriculum covers a wide range of topics and the subjects are divided into two groups:
Group I:
1. Advanced Accounting
2. Corporate & Other Laws
3. Taxation (Income Tax & Goods & Service Tax)
Group II:
1. Cost & Management Accounting
2. Auditing and Ethics
3. Financial Management & Strategic Management.
Examination: The CA Intermediate examinations are held twice a year, usually in May and November. ICAI has proposed to conduct CA Intermediate exams thrice in a year for which clear details and date of implementation are yet to be announced. The exams are conducted in a pen-paper mode.
Examination Pattern: Each paper in the CA Intermediate exam is for 100 marks. Students has the option of writing any of the group separately thereby giving undivided attention on three subjects only which in-turn increases the probability of success in the exams. Students aiming for All India Rank, require to write both the groups together.
Students need to score a minimum of 40% marks in each paper and should also obtain a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from all the papers to clear the group.
Preparation: Preparing for the CA Intermediate requires dedicated effort and a thorough understanding of the subjects. Many students opt for self-study with the help of study materials provided by ICAI or attend online classes, which in our view is not adequate for achieving desired results.
Articleship: After clearing CA Intermediate Exam, students are required to undergo two years of articleship training under a practicing Chartered Accountant.
Career Opportunities: It entitles you to join two years of Articleship (practical training with a practicing CA) and permits you to take CA Final exams.
